Blueprint for Success
All students attend school to learn. The Blueprint for Success is a strategic plan that aligns Gowanda Central School District’s mission, vision, collective commitments and goals into a collective, meaningful action that affects student learning. It is revised annually to ensure our district’s collective work is focused, aligned, purposeful, and timely. The 2023-24 “Blueprint for Success” has been refined from the previous versions and it continues to outline our efforts for growth and continual improvement.
Gowanda Central School District’s Blueprint for Success, the Strategic Action Plan for 2023-2024, was approved by the Board of Education on September 6, 2023.
Priority Areas & Goals:
- Student Achievement & Growth: Gowanda CSD will ensure ALL students learn at high levels.
- Smart Goal #1: 75% of students K-12 will meet or exceed grade level standards as measured by i-Ready K-6 and NWEA 7-12 by June 2024.
- Smart Goal #2: Gowanda Central School District will meet or exceed a 90% graduation rate by August 2024.
- Smart Goal #3: 75% of students K-8 will demonstrate 20% in growth from the beginning of the year to the end of the year as measured by i-Ready K-6 and NWEA 7-12 by June 2024.
- Social & Emotional Learning: Gowanda CSD will communicate and implement clear expectations for restorative practices for improving social-emotional development.
- Smart Goal #1: 10% decrease in student behavior referrals (class II or higher) for the 2023-24 school year as measured by e-school discipline referrals from 2022-23 to 2023-24.
- Smart Goal #2: 5% increase in how well students manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors indifferent situations (self-management) as measured by the Panorama Survey (Fall 2023 and Spring 2024).
- Smart Goal #3: 5% increase in students’ perception of whether they have the potential to change those factors that are central to their performance at school (grit) as measured by the Panorama Survey (Fall 2023 and Spring 2024).
- Family & Parent Engagement: Gowanda CSD will communicate and implement clear expectations for restorative practices for improving social-emotional development.
- Smart Goal #1: 75% of parents will respond agree or strongly agree on domain engagement – subdomain relationship and domain engagement – subdomain participation as measured by the USDOE School Climate Survey in May 2024.
- Professional Development: Gowanda CSD will provide opportunities for relevant and actionable professional development that responds to the needs and interest of staff.
- Smart Goal #1: 100% of faculty and staff will participate in professional development opportunities in the 2023-24 school year as measured by an internally created survey.
- Smart Goal #2: 75% of faculty and staff will respond agree or strongly agree on domain environment – subdomain instructional environment as measured by the USDOE School Climate Survey.
The Blueprint for Success creates a roadmap for efforts to connect with each child and family while enhancing our connections as a school and community. Everyone is in this work together and we all look forward to a school year focused on student growth and achievement.
