GHS Inducts 9 to National Honor Society

Nine outstanding students joined the ranks of Gowanda Central School District’s chapter of the National Honor Society during an induction ceremony held Thursday, February 27, 2025, in the auditorium.

Gowanda High’s Blake Herman, Lily Nuwer, Charlynn Ulmer, Hannah Valentine, Isabelle Graham, Addison Kota, Noah Lauer, Maddison Smith, and Helena Wallschlager were celebrated for their character, scholarship, leadership, and service in front of loved ones and district staff.
Following a call to order by NHS President Gracie Eddy, welcome remarks were given by Principal Rebekah Moraites. Co-Secretary Caitlyn Gangi then led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance before the presentation of the NHS values.
Co-Secretary Molly Bowers discussed character, Vice President Danielle Krajewski gave an overview of service, Treasurer Demetra Spire talked about scholarship, and President Eddy discussed leadership. Graduation achievement awards were then presented.
During the ceremony, each 2025 inductee signed their commitment to NHS and lit a candle prior. The new inductees then recited the NHS pledge as a group led by NHS member Tessa Kohn.
Returning NHS members – Molly Bowers, Holland Browning, Gracie Eddy, Caitlyn Gangi, Jillian Gernatt, Tessa Kohn, Danielle Krajewski, Winter Rivera, and Demetra Spire – were announced and recognized by NHS co-advisor Mrs. Kathryn Haim, who facilitated the ceremony with co-advisor Mrs. Paula Ondus.
Closing remarks were offered by President Eddy. Members, inductees and their families then joined their families in the cafeteria for a celebratory reception in their honor.
