GHS Student Council Announces January Students of the Month

Gowanda High School and the Student Council are proud to recognize eight outstanding students as the January 2026 Students of the Month. These individuals were nominated by their teachers for demonstrating excellence in the “4Cs”: Communication, Creativity, and Critical Thinking.

Celebrating Excellence in Our Classrooms

Our educators selected these students for their dedication to their studies, their peers, and the GHS school community:

  • Creativity: Kara Laskey. Nominated by Ms. Mesch, Kara is recognized for her outstanding original ideas in both art and writing, consistently thinking outside the box to make her work stand out.

  • Communication: James Hudson. Ms. Enders highlighted James for his strong work ethic and his willingness to help both adults and fellow students every single day.

  • Critical Thinking:

    • Dane Taber: Recognized by Mr. Weber for maintaining a 97% average in Geometry, contributing thoughtful insight to class discussions, and leading by example.

    • Colton Davis: Nominated by Ms. Styles for his genuine desire to understand complex material and his reputation as a helpful and collaborative peer.

    • Chris Goller: Mr. Smith praised Chris for his deep analysis of Global 10 content and his “Tennis Ball Thunder” dominance.

    • Patsy Griffith: Recognized by Mr. Swanson for her disciplined effort in mastering advanced repertoire as she prepares for music school auditions.

    • Kaitlyn Kelly: Nominated by Ms. Taft-Estrada for her exemplary work and initiative in Spanish, where she consistently tackles new challenges.

    • Tayleigh Williams: Mrs. Wright highlighted Tayleigh’s unique talent for connecting dots and offering fresh, high-level perspectives in her written responses.
