GOWANDA CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT ANNOUNCES 2026 ANNUAL VOTE AND ELECTION RESULTS

GOWANDA, N.Y. — The Gowanda Central School District has finalized the official results of the annual community vote held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. District residents approved all four propositions on the ballot and elected two representatives to the Board of Education.

The official voting tallies for the four propositions are as follows:

  • Proposition #1 (2026–27 Basic Budget): The proposed budget passed with 178 yes votes to 59 no votes.

  • Proposition #2 (Vehicle Purchase Referendum): The authorization to purchase four school buses passed with 201 yes votes to 36 no votes.

  • Proposition #3 (Capital Improvements Reserve Fund): The establishment of a new capital reserve fund passed with 181 yes votes to 47 no votes.

  • Proposition #4 (Local Library Appropriation): The local library appropriation measure passed with 186 yes votes to 42 no votes.

In the Board of Education election, three candidates campaigned for two open seats, each carrying a three-year term. Candidate Aimee Gernatt and incumbent Zachary Nobles secured the two positions on the board, receiving 196 votes and 173 votes, respectively. Candidate Brandon Newell finished the evening with 60 votes.
