Gowanda Central School District is preparing to welcome a new group of learners to the Panther family. Registration for Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year officially opens on February 17, 2026.
The full-day program at Gowanda Elementary School offers a comprehensive curriculum focused on preparing children to meet New York State standards through diverse learning opportunities and social growth.
Registration Process
To begin the enrollment process, families must contact Central Registration to schedule an appointment. Please note that a child must be fully registered before a screening appointment can be made.

Mandatory Kindergarten Screening
New York State law requires all entering students to be screened to help the district plan for each child’s individual needs. This is not a “pass/fail” assessment; rather, it is a series of learning games and activities involving letters, numbers, and motor skills like using scissors.

Note for Current Pre-K Students: Families with students currently enrolled in the GES Pre-K program do not need to submit new registration paperwork. However, you must contact Central Registration to schedule your child’s screening appointment.
Health Requirements & Deadlines

Registration Deadline: March 10, 2026, to ensure a screening appointment.

Physical Exams: Proof of a physical exam performed within 12 months of the start of school is required.

Dental Certificates: NYS requests a dental health certificate for all students enrolling in Kindergarten.
