GOWANDA, NY — The Gowanda Central School District is excited to announce that the Travel Club will be heading across the Atlantic in the Spring of 2028 for an immersive 12-day educational tour of Ireland and Scotland.
Led by Ms. Heather Rydzik, Art Department Chairperson and Travel Club Advisor, the trip offers students a unique opportunity to connect their classroom learning with world history and culture. The itinerary features landmark destinations including the Cliffs of Moher, Blarney Castle, the Giant’s Causeway, and Edinburgh Castle. From sheepdog demonstrations in the Scottish Highlands to exploring the historic streets of Dublin, students will engage in a variety of cultural and educational experiences designed to build confidence and global awareness.
“International travel provides a perspective that you simply cannot get from a textbook,” said Ms. Rydzik. “We want our students to see these historic sites firsthand and return to Gowanda with a deeper understanding of the world around them.”
The district will host an in-person informational meeting on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 6:00 PM in the Gowanda High School Library. This session is designed for parents and guardians to learn about the specific travel logistics, safety protocols, and the various ways students can earn academic credit during the journey. Information regarding affordable payment plans and EF Tours’ enrollment period will also be discussed.
While the meeting is held in person, registration is requested to ensure we have enough seating and physical materials prepared for all families.
