Grads Feted at Senior Class Night 2023

Gowanda High held its annual Senior Class Night on Thursday, May 25, 2023, in the auditorium. Dozens of members of the Class of 2023 were recognized during the ceremony attended by loved ones, educators and district supporters.

Following the Pledge of Allegiance by senior class secretary Josalyn Degenfelder, class president and salutatorian Lani Farley made opening remarks and introductions. Principal Rebekah Moraites then welcomed the attendees before kicking off the presentation of prizes, scholarships, grants and awards.

Numerous community organizations and partners attended the ceremony including representatives from the Gowanda Fire Department and its Auxiliary, Jimmy Keller Design, the Gowanda Kiwanis Club, the Gowanda Lions Club, the the Gowanda Boosters Club,  and Phoenix Lodge #262. Relatives and loved ones of the Jimerson, Stetzel, Rebmann, Ferry, Rogers, Wright families also handed out awards and memorial scholarships. 

Senior class co-advisors Emma Relosky and Melanie Kessler led the evening’s celebration with assistance from Superintendent Dr. Robert B. Anderson, Lea Golden, director of the Title V Native American Education Program, music teacher/choir director Robin Smith, math teacher Jim Reeves, and Athletic Director. Candace Phillips. Fellow senior class officers Ruben Rivera IV and Madison Luder, vice president and treasurer, respectively, also assisted. Event coordinators were Janene Draegert and Mandy Pickering with assistance from Haley Wilkins.
