GOWANDA, NY — Innovation is a community effort. This April, Gowanda Central School District is calling on local “superheroes” to help support the next generation of thinkers through the Camp Invention summer program.
In celebration of National Superhero Day, any donation made to the Gowanda Camp Invention crowdfunding page during the month of April—regardless of the amount—automatically enters the district into a daily drawing. Each day, one winning donor’s gift nationwide is matched with a full scholarship for a child at the local program site they supported.
Turning Small Gifts into Big Opportunities
Whether it is a $5 or $50 contribution, every local gift gives Gowanda a daily shot at bringing another student to camp at no cost to their family. These funds directly support our local program and ensure that financial barriers do not stand in the way of critical thinking and creative problem-solving.
“Our community has always been the engine behind student success,” says Kimberly Nobles, District Library Media Specialist. “This initiative is a simple way for neighbors to help neighbors. One small gift could change a student’s entire summer.”
The Four Cs in Action
Camp Invention challenges students to solve real-world problems through hands-on building and design. By participating in this program, Gowanda students strengthen the “Four Cs”:
- Communication: Sharing ideas and presenting solutions.
- Collaboration: Working in teams to tackle challenges.
- Creativity: Thinking outside the box to build unique inventions.
- Critical Thinking: Analyzing problems to find effective outcomes.
