Gowanda Central School District residents can mark their calendars for two unique “Town Hall”-style meetings to be held via Facebook Live during the 2022-2023 academic year.
Superintendent Dr. Robert B. Anderson is hosting two inclusive, virtual communication opportunities for residents to get an update on topics such as goals, strategic planning, equity, student achievement and more. The town hall meetings are scheduled Wednesday, November 9, 2022, and Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Both meetings will conclude with question-and-answer sessions.
“One thing we learned from our communication efforts during the height of the pandemic shutdowns is that Facebook Live really resonated with our community,” says Anderson, noting virtual participation soared for the COVID-19 updates on social media starting in 2020 compared to previous in-person forums that attracted only a handful of attendees.
The virtual forms are recorded and archived on the district Facebook page and can be viewed at residents’ convenience. Those unable to participate in real time are encouraged to submit questions or topics for discussion in advance via email to district clerk Kathy Ferneza at msferneza@gcslearn.org or at 716-532-3325, ext. 6300. (Deadline to submit questions is 12 p.m. on November 9 and April 12.)
“Not everyone in our Panther family can fit in-person meetings into their schedule,” says Anderson of Gowanda CSD’s efforts to enhance community connections via technology. “Plus, the online platform allows us to collaborate in real time with more people in a safe and convenient manner.”
